I am a middle aged male in Kentucky U.S.A., was involved in a
motorcycle accident at age twenty (1981), which seriously and
permanently injured three of my limbs (plates, screws and multiple
fractures). I attempted to receive Social Security Disability shortly
after the accident, without legal aid, but was denied as a result of
the surgeon stating to Social Security that the condition was
temporary.

I have been living with my parents since the accident, on the property
they owned. Having had no gainful employment since the accident I have
been dependant on my parents for food, shelter and assistance. I have
difficulty lifting more than five pounds, standing or setting for long
periods of time.

My dad passed away several years ago and afterwards my mother was
receiving Social Security (mostly spousal survivor benefits), from
which she was paying all the bills, saving some in a checking account
and U.S. Savings Bonds. She recently passed away and I find myself
with no steady income, but am probably over the "resource" limit; now
owning my parents property and savings, by inheritance.

I am able to survive for a while, but the money will of course
eventually be depleted, unable to pay upfront money for legal fees,
but am willing to make payments pending a successful outcome in my
favor.

What can I do? Can someone help, give advice, or put me in contact
with a lawyer. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

Tough spot to be in. :-(
You probably did not have the required credits to draw SSDisability on your
own work record. Also I doubt that they would seek benefits on the parents
account after arrival at adulthood.

Local state aid and the wealfare have a recource limitation, true but, I
think one piece of undevided property is within the allowances. You will
probably find this to be true, once you reach that situation.

I am in no way an expert on SSA but based upon my witness and experiance in
the many years I have been disabled, I think recieving SSDI off of a
deceased parent is going to be next to impossible. Hopefully you can find
some thick black ooze or shiney gold rocks on that land, or find a way to
generate an income off of it.
Best of luck to you.

Realize that google group is not anonymous and anything you
post there can be traced back to you specifically including
anyone that wants to prevent you from getting benefits, etc.
Google is merciless, they will id you no matter what and
profile anything you do on the net.

Thank you.
Start with the phone book: Look up
Talk to the people in the local Social Security Office by phone or personal
visit.
Advocacy or Obmudsman for Social Security cases and
talk to a few laywers who advertise handling SS cases and see what they say.
You will owe nothnig to a SS lawyer if you lose; only if you win, and that
will come from your backpayment.

If you have good medical records documenting everythiing you've said here
and more, you will have a good case. SSA is going to want to see all of
those and/or send you to their own doctors. There MUST be a medical record.
You should NOT run into up-front medical fees with any SS lawyer. They
don't get paid until the case is settled.

f'ups set to here since most of your groups return a no such group.

Twayne`
